Welcome to Linfield! We look forward to having you join the Linfield Community. Here you'll find information about what you can expect during your first few days on campus.
Orientation Schedule for New Students
Friday, February 7
9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Campus Resources Open (new students, and families) The Office of Financial Aid, the Registrar, Student Accounts, Learning Support Services, Career Development, and Academic Advising will be open for students to drop in and ask questions.
Melrose Lower Level (garden level)
9 a.m.
On Campus Students Check-In (new students, and families) All new first year and transfer students should check in at Melrose Lower Level. Pick up your ID card, mail and room keys. Check in with Academic Advising to confirm class registration.
Melrose Lower Level (garden level)
9 – 11 a.m.
On Campus Students Settle In (new students, and families) Move into your assigned campus housing, settle in and become familiar with your new community.
All Campus
11:30 a.m.
Off Campus Students Check-In (new students, and families) All new first year and transfer students who live off campus should check in at Melrose Lower Level. Pick up your ID card, mail and room keys.

12 – 1 p.m.
Student & Family Lunch (new students and families) Lunch will be provided for students and families. Please use this form to let us know if you will be bringing your family and if you have any food allergies.

1 – 2 p.m.
Student Campus Tours (new students) Students participate in this campus tour to learn where your classes will be held, as well as other locations like the commuter lounge and bookstore.
Melrose Lower Level (garden level)
2 – 2:30 p.m.
Welcome and Q&A for Students and Families (new students) Join us for a formal welcome. You will meet members of your new community. You will also receive your Linfield Acorn.

2:30 – 2:45 p.m.
Family & Student Good-Byes
2:45 – 3:30 p.m.
Student Resource Open House (new students) Coffee and cookies Time to allow students to get to know student resources.
Melrose Lower Level (garden level)
3:30 – 4 p.m.
Meeting with Faculty Advisor (new students) You will learn more about academics and advising at Linfield, what to expect in your first semester will. You have time to ask questions.

First Semester Seminar and Advising Meetings
Students are assigned an advisor when they begin at Linfield. You will receive an email notifying you of your advisor assignment before the orientation. Your advisor will explain how academic advising at Linfield goes beyond scheduling classes and preparing academic degree plans.
All new students (who transfer fewer than 45 semester credits) are enrolled in First Semester Seminar. First Semester Seminar is a 1-credit IDST course introducing students to the Linfield University community. You will learn more about First Semester Seminar at the Group Advisor Meeting from 3:30– 4:00 p.m. and can work with your advisor to make sure you are on track with your academic planning.

Starbucks, Riley Campus Center (open February 10):
- Monday to Thursday: 7:30 a.m. – 6 p.m.
- Friday: 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
- Saturday: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
- Sunday: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Bookstore, Riley Campus Center (open February 7):
- Monday to Friday: 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
- Saturday: 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
