3:30 p.m.: Spanish Speaking Family Orientation – Spanish speaking students and families are invited to join for a message from Vice President of Enrollment Management and Student Success, Gerardo Ochoa. 11 a.m. - 12 p.m.: First Scholars Information Session – Required for all first-generation students who are in fall sports or those who did not participate in a pre-orientation program. 1 – 2 p.m.: Music Theory Placement Test – Students interested in a Music Major or Minor should participate in the placement test. This test will determine the MUSC courses the student will take. Contact Dr. Florian Conzetti (fconzet@linfield.edu) to sign up and if you have any questions. Vivian Bull Music Center, Room 117.

2 – 3 p.m.: New Transfer Student Reception – Join with fellow transfer students for a reception to get to know each other and staff at Linfield. Fred Meyer Lounge, Riley Hall.

3 – 5 p.m.: Language Placement Testing – Students who were unable to place into a language course during the regular registration process may use this time to take a Language Placement Exam. Please notify your advisor of any schedule changes due to language placements.

• Japanese: Self enroll in Blackboard. Students can contact Dr. Masayuki Itomitsu (mitomit@linfield.edu) for additional information. Walker Hall 304
• French: Students with at least a year of French must take the placement Exam. Students can contact Dr. Marie Noussi (mnoussi@linfield.edu) for additional information. Testing for French will occur in Walker Hall 302.

3 – 5 p.m.: Choir Placement – Students interested in Concert Choir, Cascara Voce, or Wildcat Glee should participate in the placement test and should contact Dr. Julie Cross (jcross@linfield.edu) to sign up or if you have questions. Vivian Bull Music Center, Wooley Rehearsal Hall.

3 – 5 p.m.: Instrumental Ensemble Placement – Students who are interested (strings, woodwinds, brass, piano, percussion) should participate in the placement test and contact Dr. Florian Conzetti (fconzet@linfield.edu) to sign up or if you have questions. 5 – 7 p.m.: Dinner – See below for information on dining hall mealtimes.  

7 p.m.: Cat Camp – An important Linfield tradition. All new students and families are welcome to join fellow Wildcats for this exciting event. New students should wear their new Wildcats spirit T-shirt. Roll ‘Cats! Memorial Football Stadium.

7 – 9 a.m.: Breakfast – Students on a meal plan may begin eating in Dillin Hall this day.

9 – 9:45 a.m.: Meet your Registration & Orientation Group – Meet your Registration & Orientation Leader (ROL), connect with other new students in your Registration & Orientation Group (ROG), and review the Wildcat Welcome Weekend schedule. Learn what to expect for your afternoon advising sessions with your new faculty advisor. ROG Orientation Meeting Room (See meeting room schedule).

9 – 9:45 a.m.: Coffee Hour for Parents & Families – Grab a cup of coffee and a pastry, meet other parents and families, and visit with a few Linfield staff members. Riley/Walker Patio.

10 – 11 a.m.: Opening Convocation: Welcome to Linfield! – Marking the official start of the academic year, new students and families will be officially welcomed by President Johnson, Linfield Faculty and Staff. New students will participate in the Tradition of the Acorn. Commencement Green.

11 am – 1:30 p.m.: Lunch – Grab lunch at a local eatery or join us at the Dining Hall. Students who are on the meal plan will not be charged. Families wishing to purchase lunch may do so. Dillin Hall.

11 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.: Mack’s MarCAT GRAND OPENING – Swing by the new micro-market located on the west side of Dillin Hall to check out the selection of fresh deli sandwiches, salads, cold beverages, snacks, healthy alternatives and more offered in this fast, convenient, 24/7 self-checkout store that accepts flex dollars and other forms of payment. Dillin Hall

1:30 – 2 p.m.: Group Advising Meeting – Meet with your new faculty advisor and learn more about academic advising and First Semester Seminar. IDST007/009 Classroom (see your class schedule).

1:30 – 2:45 p.m.: Parent and Family Welcome/Q&A – Hear from the Provost, Director of Care & Support and Director of Parent Engagement. Find out what resources are available for you and your student. Get your burning questions answered. Richard and Lucille Ice Auditorium, Melrose Hall.

2 – 6 p.m.: Individual Advising Appointments – Be assigned a one-on-one advising appointment time to meet with your faculty advisor and discuss your academic schedule. Your faculty advisor will confirm the time and location during your group meeting at 1:30 p.m.

2 – 5 p.m.: Activities – ASLU (Associated Students of Linfield Univ) and RHA (Residence Hall Assoc) are hosting a series of activities like a Slip & Slide, inflatables, baby goats and more! Riley/Walker Field.

3 – 4 p.m.: Parent and Family Reception – Enjoy some light refreshments, a glass of wine or another beverage. Visit with Linfield staff. Pat yourself on the back for a job well done and connect with other parents. The Oak Grove.

4 – 4:45 p.m.: Family/Student Good-byes – Students’ Residence Hall Rooms.

5 – 7 p.m.: Dinner – See below for information on dining hall mealtimes.

7:30-9 p.m.: Play Fair – Play Fair is totally unlike anything else you have ever experienced. It’s entertainment! It’s fun! It’s the perfect way to make new campus friendships! ROG Orientation Meeting Room/Memorial Football Stadium.

9 p.m.: WEB Presents: Outdoor Movie! – Presented by the Wildcat Events Board (WEB). Enjoy snacks and socialize with other students. Riley/Walker Field.

10 a.m. – 1 p.m.: Brunch – Dillin Hall.

11 a.m. – 12 p.m. (ROGs 1-14) OR 12 – 1 p.m.: (ROGs 15-28) Consent Matters: Boundaries, Respect and Advocacy - Learn what it means to protect your fellow wildcats! Meet the on-campus Confidential Advocate to learn about Title IX at Linfield, survivor advocacy, substance use, consent, sexual violence prevention, local support resources, and Linfield policies. Participate in active bystander training to feel prepared to intervene when you see or hear about something potentially inappropriate. ROG Orientation Meeting Room.

1 – 2 p.m.: Navigating Academics and Opportunities for the Future! – Meet Gennie VanBeek, Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences, and Jennifer Madden, Dean of the School of Business. The academic deans will share tips on navigating university structures and information about exciting programs in each area. Richard and Lucille Ice Auditorium, Melrose Hall.

2 – 4 p.m.: ROG Group Student Resources Fair – Meet with other first year students in your ROG to learn more about the resources offered by various offices around campus including Learning Support Services, Residence Life & Housing, Student Health, Wellness & Counseling Center, Career Development, Care & Support, and many others. Complete the black out bingo card and receive a voucher for a yummy treat! ROG Orientation Meeting Room.

4 p.m.: Veterans Student Reception – Connecting with students who are veterans or utilize veterans' benefits. Fred Meyer Lounge, Riley Hall.

5 – 7 pm: Dinner – See below for information on dining hall mealtimes.

7 p.m.: Class “L” Photo – An important Linfield tradition. ROG Orientation Meeting Room.

7:30 – 10 p.m.: Hall Crawl – Join us for a fun-filled evening spanning all of campus! Stop by each Residence Hall to experience a different activity, meeting new people as you go! Also make sure to stop by the RHA booth by the People Fountain on Linfield Ave - Begin at any Residence Hall.

10 a.m. – 1 p.m.: Brunch – Dillin Hall.

11 a.m. – 12 p.m.: Introduction to Religious and Spiritual Life at Linfield – Join the chaplain’s team to learn about how you can grow, learn and flourish spiritually during your time at Linfield. Our university chaplain and student chaplains will all be present, as well as representatives from various on-campus ministries. Students of all faiths and no faith are welcome and encouraged to attend. Pastries provided! The Emmaus House. 

1 – 2 p.m.: Commuter Student Reception - Join with fellow commuter students for a cookie and lemonade reception to get to know each other, and staff at Linfield that can help you with your college journey. Fred Meyer Lounge.

2 – 3 p.m.: Pre-Nursing Information Session - Learn about prerequisites and admission criteria for Linfield’s School of Nursing. Richard and Lucille Ice Auditorium, Melrose Hall.

3 – 4 p.m.: Navigating Technology at Linfield – Learn about the different systems and sites, etc. you will need to be successful on campus. Cybersecurity training provided by ITS. ROG Orientation Meeting Room.

4 – 5 p.m.: ROG Meeting – Starting off on the right foot, are you ready? What did you learn this weekend, and do you have any questions about what you have seen and heard? ROG Orientation Meeting Room.

5 – 7 p.m.: Involvement Fair – We invite you to explore student clubs, organizations, and other engagement opportunities at Linfield University. Hosted in partnership with the Associated Students of Linfield University (ASLU) and the Wildcat Events Board (WEB). Riley/Walker Field.

5 – 7 p.m.: Welcome Back BBQ – All students on the meal plan will enjoy a BBQ dinner and use this opportunity to visit the Activities and Involvement Fair. Riley/Walker Field.

9 p.m.: Students living in the Residence Halls Residence Hall Meeting – Meet your RA and learn more about Residence Life at Linfield. Residence Halls.

Every student is part of a Registration & Orientation Group (ROG) with other new students. You will meet with your ROG throughout Wildcat Welcome Weekend, and on Monday nights this fall to complete First Semester Seminar Lab (IDST 007L / IDST 009L).

First Semester Seminar is comprised of two parts: meetings with a faculty advisor throughout the semester (IDST 007, or IDST 009 for transfer students); and a Monday night lab with peers in your ROG that is facilitated by your ROL (IDST 007L or IDST 009L).

Incoming students are paired with a peer advisor (Registration & Orientation Leader) and a faculty advisor (IDST 007L/009L). First generation students will have an additional peer and faculty mentor. Advising meetings help build the advisor-advisee relationship and cover important topics related to academic success at Linfield.

Dillin Dining Hall- Offering multiple meals a day with allergy friendly and vegan/vegetarian options, students on a meal plan will find delicious and well-balanced meals. With one meal swipe students have an “all you care to eat” buffet-style dining.

Wildcat Express- Located in Dillin Hall they have grab-and-go options for a meal swipe. They have sandwiches, wraps, and salads with the student’s choice of sides and a drink.

24/7 Micro Market- Located in Dillin Hall they offer fresh food, snacks, and beverages that students can buy with flex cash or everyday app.

Sub Hub- Off the east side of Dillin Hall they offer late night sub sandwich option that students can buy with flex cash or everyday app.

Starbucks- Located in Riley Hall students are welcome to refuel with Starbucks coffee, drinks, and food that students can buy with flex cash. Great place to meet with staff, peers, or get some studying done.

Food service for students on the meal plan begins Friday, August 23 Dillin Dining Hall and Starbucks in the Riley Campus Center will operate on the following schedule for Fall 2024 semester:

There are countless ways to get involved at Linfield. In addition to attending the Involvement Fair, we invite you to explore student engagement opportunities by visiting the Student Activities office in Riley 301 or emailing activities@linfield.edu for more information.

ASLU- Associated Students of Linfield University offer students a way to get involved within student government and make the changes they wish to see at Linfield and help plan annual events.

ResLife/RHA- RA’s will have monthly events in your hall to bring fun into the dorms. Join residence hall association to help plan and host campus wide events.

Athletics- Playing or watching Linfield offers 23 Division III sports, we also host a variety of intermediate sports with fun end of season championships. Students are always encouraged to try-out for a sport or try-out being a fan in the Cat Zone.

FSL- Fraternity and Sorority Life allows students the opportunity to make new connections, engage in philanthropy, and foster inclusive communities on campus.

Clubs on Campus- There are tons of active clubs on campus from our Black Student Union, Linfield United Pride, Gaming Club, and Enviromental Club there is something for everyone. Students are always encouraged to make their own club if they don’t see it on campus already.
